The implementation of a range of healthcare and educational programs is undertaken through the Axios Foundation, also part of the Axios group. The Axios Foundation is a public charity that has its headquarters in the USA. The mission of the Foundation is to implement humanitarian projects in developing countries worldwide, with a particular focus on support for individuals and communities affected by AIDS and other diseases. Currently implementation projects include programs on Orphans and Vulnerable Children in AIDS Affected Areas (OVC), Voluntary Counseling and Testing of HIV (VCT), Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), management of donations, and programs to increase access to HIV-related drugs and care in developing countries. The Axios Foundation seeks financial and product donations from corporations, charities, non-governmental organizations, and individuals. It operates directly in the recipient countries through experienced in-country staff and collaboration with governments and partner organizations.
Axios has successfully designed and applied vertical programs as well as district approaches. Axios has considerable experience in structuring program linkages between health systems and communities and in building sustainable models for the health system.
